The comparison to "Enterprise" is unsettling for two reasons. First, I don't think we needed to be reminded why we love Francine and Katchoo. Second, the image of Terry sitting in his studio, making up the story as he goes, finally running out of ideas and deciding to do an "Ultimate Spiderman", is contrary to his many statements that S.i.P. is a unified story with an end. And frankly, it's rather insulting to equate Terry with a television hack. I hope this is not a true image.

Heh, Larry you've incurred the wrath of SiP fans, look out. wink I like your CBR stuff, by the way.

I think they overreacted just a little, I don't see anything in your column that looks like a deliberate attack on Terry and his creation. You've just chosen to look at the issue from a different angle. See, most of us, when we first read the issue, were very worried that Terry was restarting the story, as you seem to believe he's doing. The only difference is that most of us here on the SiP board were pissed at the idea. There's still so much of the main story to tell, events that have been hinted at...Then we settled down and thought about it for a bit. It makes sense that this could be a dream one of the characters is having. An idealized "what might've been". Terry likes dream sequences. But it won't last. I'm guessing the point of it is to make us remember how much we love these versions of the characters. A cleaner SiP, minus Katchoo's unfortunate past, among other new alterations? No, Terry just likes screwing with us. One small detail that I think gives away that it's a dream is that, during the high school play scene, Veronica ("Rachel") and David are there as fellow students.

I think once we've all read the next few issues, it'll become clear that a complete re-imagining would've been a terrible choice. Unlike old drawn-out superhero titles, SiP's continuity hasn't been compromised and it's still a fairly young series, still running strong. No need for a re-do.

I think you, as some others, have misread the issue. He?s not giving them a happy ending, this is a what might have been issue. Part two probably will be the what if they chose wrong and don?t become happy part of the story.

Besides that I think it?s just an unwarrented attack of Terry, for pretty much the the second reason Thrasymachos stated. I?ve never seen Terry take an easy turn as the story?s concerned.

    My 2 cents

Sorry for my somewhat harsh post. Still don?t agree with you, but it wasn?t an attack on Terry. I got a bit carried away in the heat of the moment I guess. Kris has put it far more elenquetly then I could.

Whatever you do keep spreading the word about SiP.
